so it started snowing again last night. no big deal. whatever. i can deal with it. it happened over the weekend... so i'm used to it. however, when i woke up this morning, this was waiting for me.

well, it's been a lazy day.... it started raining pretty good on thursday and i haven't worked since b/c it's been so wet, so that kind of sucks. i've been back at work for 3 weeks, but only have one full week in so far b/c of the weather. the first week i worked we had snow. i've got pics that i'll post online.... snow in april. to make matters worse, it actually snowed on thursday too, but it wasn't cold enough to stick. calgary weather blows.
i also succumbed and joined facebook this morning... so yeah. been screwing around with that for a while. seems like it might be kind of fun.
picked up a dvi cable to hook my laptop up to my new tv, and it works... but i can't get it to use the whole monitor yet. it still leaves a couple inches on the sides. i know why it does it, but i can't fix it... and that's the part i can't figure out. it doesn't work correctly in windows or linux. grrrrrrr. oh well, it's good enough i guess.
can't think of much else to write right now. if any of you've e-mailed me and i haven't replied... don't worry. it's not just you. i haven't written anybody. i'll get around to it... don't worry.

turns out i'm a giant douchebag. brought the tv in this afternoon, buddy looked at it, said the stuff was missing. they started doing all the transactions to get this one returned, then order a new one to sell to me, and then set up home delivery. then my friend alex says, "are you sure you checked everywhere? top? bottom?" i said yes, and the best buy guy said yes too. then a couple minutes later the best buy guy says "i'm going to check one more", so he opens it all up, and lo and behodl, all the stuff that had been missing was hiding behind styrofoam at the top of the box, which he said he's never, ever seen before. so anyways, i brought the tv there to exchange it, and then brought the same tv home b/c nothing was wrong with it. now it's hanging gloriously on the bedroom wall. i'll post pics within a couple days, b/c it really is a thing of beauty.

so i'm sitting here this morning setting up my tv. i install the wall mount, open up the box and start setting up the mount part that goes on the back... only to find out that there's no manual, remote, or power cord. the bastards sold me an open box for full-retail price without the afore-mentioned stuff. so i call them up, and they say that their computer say they have an open-box in stock, and that they had a factory-fresh, which they sold (to me) yesterday. so they figure the tags got mixed up on the boxes or in their computers. but they can't find the one they've got in stock to see if it's the right one, so basically i have to return this tv, then they order a new one, and then when that one arrives i have to pick it up again. once again, best buy screws over one of their customers... gotta love the place!

i'd like to introduce every one to the newest member of the de Ruiter family. my new tv bought this bad boy today. hopefully it lasts me a while. hopefully i don't come to regret this... :) i had this one all picked out and was ready to walk out, and then when i got to best buy there was a 46" sony right beside it on sale for the same price... so i hemmed and hawed b/c it's a sony... on sale by $400! but i figured i'd go with the tv that i knew. although that may not have been the right decision... we shall see i guess.
still haven't started working yet. it's been snowy and rainy basically since i got here, but whatever. i got my paperwork for wilco yesterday, and was hoping to work today but that didn't happen. maybe tomorrow. i've got to get a hold of my brother to see when he's working.
as for the nhl playoffs, pittsburgh got smoked tonight by ottawa, but i figured that would happen. the nerves of the team, since most of them have never been in playoffs before, were very shaky at the beginning of the game. i'm hoping they can still pull it off though.
